British based Lala Loves Decor is a homeware brand especially for you and your children. Founder and mum Kelly is inspired by Scandinavian decor, minimalist design and the natural world. Everything is designed and made with FSC certified timber and eco paints by Kelly in her home studio in Brighton. We are proud to be the very first stockist back in May last year.
We did a little Olive Loves Alfie Q&A with Kelly mama to two twin girls...
1) What is your family motto?
In a world where you can be anything, be kind, always
2) Describe your brand in 3 words?
Fun, decorative, considered
3) Describe your family in 3 words?
Happy, affectionate, tall
4) Does your family have a favourite song?
It has to be Justin Timberlake 'Can't stop the feeling' which in our house is called the troll song! My daughters are obsessed with this song and drop everything to dance when it comes on the radio.
5) Whats your favourite season and why?
It has to be summer, I love the sun. Living by the sea in Brighton, the town really comes to life in the Summer. Also, I really hate wearing socks and much prefer it to be warm enough so I can live in sandals or birks for a few months.
6) Whats your favourite time of day and why?
I'm not a morning person but I love it when the girls come into our bed for a cuddle, it happens everyday without fail and it's so nice to start the day with a family hug. As long as it's not too early I might add, 7am is my ideal waking up time.
7) What’s it like for a family living in Brighton?
Brighton is a great place to live, there's always lots of family friendly events going on plus the beach is a big bonus and we go down there frequently even in the Winter. It's a compact city so easy to travel around, nothing is far away, everything is on the doorstep basically! Plus I love shopping in the lanes.
8) What is the key for a happy childhood?
As parents we have a lot of responsibility to ensure our children grow up happy. I believe a loving family home is the key and lots of play. I also like to encourage my children to play outside as much as possible. I know times have changed but when I think back to my childhood, I have many happy memories of playing outside with friends, in the woods, climbing trees and riding my bike until tea time.
9) Describe your home?
A semi detached victorian 3 bedroom house, half decorated but getting there, it has potential!
10) Where do you get inspiration from?
Pinterest, magazines, nature, my children, anything and everything!
11) What are your family traditions?
My children are still quite young so we haven't made many traditions yet. We always have a family group hug when the girls wake up and another one before they go to sleep! We like to eat croissants for breakfast on a Saturday and tend to watch a movie together on a Sunday.
12) What is your favourite kids book?
We all love Iggy Peck, all the books in that series by Andrea Beaty are great, I love the moral throughout the stories, that perseverance and passion pays off and your dreams are achievable.
13) How would you describe your style and /or your parenting style?
I'm quite relaxed and easy going as a person but I try and set clear boundaries for my kids. I also love routine and being organised, I think that might have something to do with having twins though! I'm not as patient as I'd like to be, I'm working on that!
14) Where is your favourite spot to holiday?
When I was pregnant with the twins we went to Ponza in Italy, it's part of the Pontine islands and easy to get to from Rome. You can rent motor boats and explore the island by sea. It's a special place that not many Brits have heard of. I'd love to go back one day.
15) What is your favourite family day out?
It has to be a beach day out, looking for shells or exploring rock pools
16) What hopes do you have for the future for the children and future generations?
I want them to be happy and kind, to care for their environment and be considerate of others. I hope the future generations will have learn't a lot from our mistakes.
17) What emoji sums your brand up?
The emoji I use the most is the sparkles one, it's like a little 'ta dah' here I am, all magical, dreamy, sparkly and glittery ✨
