Sidai envisions a world where indigenous craftsmanship is preserved and elevated providing sustainable livelihoods for artisans and a catalyst for positive social change. What began with just five artisans in a workshop down a dusty back road in Arusha, Tanzania, has since grown into a community of over 100 artisans and a big workshop space. The Sidai center is an oasis of calm and a hub of creativity amid a bustling Arusha town. Sidai founded Sidai Maasai Women Organization, a nationally registered NGO and the charitable arm of Sidai Designs. They partner with Tanzanian organizations to provide regular social programs for our artisans on a number of topics, such as women’s rights and caring for cattle. In a culture where women are often denied an education, these classes are invaluable.
